1. Who we are

The N1 Trial application and the website n1trial.com (together, the "Service") are provided by N1trials ApS, a Danish company registered under CVR no. 46464753, with registered address at Hørhavevej 46, 8270 Højbjerg ("we", "us"). You can reach us at privacy@n1trial.com. For help with the app, write to support@n1trial.com.

2. Acceptance of these terms

By using the Service you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service. The processing of your personal data is described in our Privacy Policy, which forms part of these terms.

3. The service

N1 Trial helps you design and run structured self-experiments (so-called n-of-1 trials) about your own habits and general wellbeing. You choose a question, the Service helps you design a time-limited comparison, measurements are collected from your connected wearable device or from your own daily answers, and at the end you receive an individual estimate of the effect, together with its statistical uncertainty. An AI assistant guides you through the design in plain language.

The Service is a general-wellness tool. It is not a medical device and is not intended for diagnosis, treatment, cure or prevention of any disease. Section 7 matters more than any other section of these terms; please read it.

4. Early access

The Service is currently in a testing phase and is made available free of charge to invited testers. During this phase, features may change or be withdrawn without notice, the Service may be unavailable at times, and we may need to reset or migrate stored data. We will introduce paid subscriptions later; these terms will be updated first, and continued use will never quietly become a paid commitment.

5. Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years old to use the Service. By using it you confirm that you are, and that you use it for yourself and not on behalf of another person.

6. Your account and signing in

When you first open the app, it creates an account for you on that phone. You don't need an email address, a name or a password.

You can add an email address to your account in Account › Profile. With it you can sign in on another phone, or get your account back on a new one: we email you a 6-digit code to enter in the app. Never share a code; we will never ask you for one. Anyone who can read your email or use your unlocked phone can open your account and the health data in it, so keep both to yourself.

The app shows the phones signed in to your account, and you can remove any of them. If you lose a phone, remove it there or write to support@n1trial.com.

To protect accounts, we limit how many codes can be sent and how many wrong codes can be entered. After too many wrong codes, signing in by email pauses until the next month; support can help sooner.

If your account has no email address and you lose or reset your phone, we cannot recover your account or its data.

You are responsible for the accuracy of the information you enter into the Service.

7. Health and safety

The Service is not a medical device and does not provide medical advice. Nothing the Service shows you, including trial results, effect estimates, baseline summaries and messages from the AI assistant, is a diagnosis, a treatment recommendation or a substitute for advice from a qualified health professional.

To the extent permitted by law, you use the Service and act on its output at your own responsibility.

8. Connecting a wearable

You can connect a wearable device, either through the vendor's own cloud service (for example Oura, Polar, Whoop or Withings) or by letting the app read your phone's health data (Apple Health on iPhone, Health Connect on Android). Your relationship with the device vendor, including their account terms and their handling of your data on their platform, is governed by their terms, not ours. We import measurements only after you have given consent in the app, as described in the Privacy Policy, and you can disconnect a device at any time in the app.

9. Licence and acceptable use

We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to use the app and website for your own personal, non-commercial use. You must not:

10. Your data and content

Your measurements, answers, trial designs and results are yours. You grant us the licence needed to store and process them in order to operate the Service for you, as described in the Privacy Policy. Consents you give in the app, for importing wearable data, for letting the AI assistant read your measurements, and for contributing to anonymised research, can each be withdrawn in the app at any time.

11. Intellectual property

The Service, including its software, design, trial methodology as implemented in the Service, and all content we created, belongs to us or our licensors. These terms give you no right to our trademarks or branding.

12. Disclaimers

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, to the extent permitted by Danish law. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free or that measurements imported from third parties are accurate or complete. Nothing in these terms limits rights that mandatory law gives you as a consumer.

13. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, loss of data caused by third-party services, or decisions you take based on the Service's output, and our total liability for claims arising out of the Service in any 12-month period is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in that period and DKK 500. Nothing in this section excludes liability that cannot be excluded under Danish law, including liability for gross negligence, intent, or death or personal injury caused by negligence.

14. Termination

You may stop using the Service at any time and may ask us to delete your account and its data, in the app (Account › Data › Your data › Delete your account) or by writing to privacy@n1trial.com, as described in the Privacy Policy. We may suspend or terminate access with reasonable notice, or immediately in case of material breach of these terms or misuse of the Service. Sections 7, 11, 12, 13 and 16 survive termination.

15. Changes to the service or these terms

We may change the Service and these terms. For material changes we will give notice in the app or by email before they take effect, and the change will apply prospectively. If you continue using the Service after the effective date, the new terms apply; if you do not agree, stop using the Service and we will, on request, delete your data.

16. Governing law and disputes

These terms are governed by Danish law. Disputes are subject to the ordinary Danish courts, without prejudice to mandatory consumer protections of the country where you live. Complaints about our handling of personal data can also be raised with the Danish Data Protection Agency (Datatilsynet), as described in the Privacy Policy.
